Once you have verified provider status and are aligned with an authorized Training Center, it is now time to purchase and complete the Instructor Essentials Online Course for the discipline in which you are seeking Instructor status. Instructor Candidates will also need to purchase the associated Instructor Manual for use in the Instructor Essentials Online Course. Upon successful completion of the Instructor Essentials Online Course a completion certificate will be generated. This completion certificate is required for admittance into the classroom portion of the Instructor Essentials Course.

American Heart Association BLS Instructors are authorized to teach BLS Provider courses, in addition to all Heartsaver provider courses. You only need to complete the BLS Instructor Essentials Online Course, you do NOT need to complete the Heartsaver Instructor Essentials Online Course.
American Heart Association Heartsaver Instructors are authorized to teach all Heartsaver provider courses, but may not teach BLS Provider courses. You only need to complete the Heartsaver Instructor Essentials Online Course.
